Perfectly aligned for the camera, the nine jets simultaneously create their smoke trails in red, white and blue. The coloured smoke is created by spraying a coloured dye into the hot jet exhaust. The dye is carried in a tank clearly seen under the aircraft. If you look very closely at the jet tailpipe you will see metal tubes pointing into the exhaust gasses.
